Youth RISE is recruiting between 4 to 8 members to join a dynamic Working Group to produce an evidence-based resource that addresses the specific needs of Young People Who Use Opioids (YPWUO) and Young Harm Reduction Practitioners (YHRP). 

The purpose of this project is to develop resources that will drive positive change for YPWUO and to shape opioid-related harm reduction.

Applicants are expected to participate in a focus group and to have time available for developing the research resource. 

Working group member criteria:

  • Lived experience of opioid use
  • Experience with opioid harm reduction interventions and peer work (needle and syringe programs, supervised injection sites, opioid agonist therapy, naloxone distribution programs, education and outreach, testing programs, peer support and counseling programs, community-based programs, overdose prevention education, etc.).
  • Interest and commitment to developing evidence-based resources for advocacy on YPWUO.
  • Teamwork capabilities

Desirable:

  • Strong English communication skills
  • Qualitative/quantitative research experience

Applicants with first-hand experience in opioid use or harm reduction practice will be prioritized.

Each member should be prepared to contribute a minimum of 3 hours of weekly work between October 20th and December 15th. This includes collaboration with fellow group members, attending scheduled meetings, and contributing to the evidence-based resource. 

Funding: 

An honorarium will be provided to each member pending the timely submission of agreed deliverables. The total funding pool for this activity is 2000 USD, distributed equally among selected applicants.

Timeline: The activities planned for the research working group should be carried out between the 20th of October and the 15th of December.
