Sofía is a clinical psychologist, criminologist, and researcher from Bogotá, Colombia. She has special interest in the study, research, and intervention of people with substance use and dependence, promoting a harm reduction perspective.
She has over three and a half years of experience working in different harm reduction initiatives in Colombia through substance analysis and providing verified, evidence-based information to service users and conducting research in the field of substance use and mental health. She has worked providing support in recovery zones at raves in cases of negative psychoactive experiences and leading educational workshops. She believes in the importance of working with vulnerable communities, so she provided psychological first aid and emotional containment for people who inject intravenous substances in safe consumption site settings.
