About Sara Monsalvo

Sara was born in Mexico City in 1998. She holds a degree in Latin American Studies and a diploma in Asian Studies from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She has participated in Youth RISE since 2022, where she represents Mexico as a member of its International Working Group. Sara also coordinates and co-founded P.I.N. (Night Intervention Program), a psychoactive drug education platform that promotes a non-punitive approach to addressing drug use and its psychosocial effects as an alternative to the traditional prohibitionist model in the Mexico City Metropolitan Area.


Sara is a feminist researcher and harm reduction advocate. Her research interests focus primarily on new psychoactive drugs, youth and women who use drugs, sexual education for children and youth, and drug policy in Latin America. She is generally passionate about sports, science fiction, rap and electronic music, and plays the saxophone.
