Inês is a harm reduction technician with a background in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology. Her first experience in harm reduction was as a drug-checking volunteer with the Check!n team in 2019, after which she began working as a technician with beSafe project, focusing her intervention in the interior regions of Portugal. She has been also working as a drug checker with Kosmicare at summer festivals and collaborated with several other projects focused on both nightlife and vulnerable settings.
Alongside intervention and activism, Inês is interested in research and technology, particularly in using data to develop solutions and conduct exploratory studies related to drug use, harm reduction, and public health. She is especially interested in exploring how technology and innovative communication strategies can help modernize harm reduction practices and adapt them to new generations and emerging drug use contexts.
