About AJ
AJ is a youth worker from Dundee, Scotland, with a BA Honours Degree in Community Education. My passion for harm reduction began in my teenage years where I experimented with different drugs and became interested in the way that substance use was taught to my peers and I in school. I disagreed with the facilitation and methods of the classes run by the teachers and the local police officers. For me, harm reduction is the only logical approach to drug use, it prevents drug harm substantially, as well as respecting human autonomy. As an adult, I have dedicated the last 10 years to community development, social justice and youth work. This brought me to research in tandem with on the ground work, and I have plans to begin my PhD in 2027 on youth voice in harm reduction.
