Elena Keller, originally from North Carolina, now resides in Malmö, Sweden where she is pursuing a Master of Public Health degree at Lund University. She has a rich background in harm reduction and substance use work, having served in case management, care navigation, housing support and program development roles in Western North Carolina. Her efforts have focused on addressing Social Determinants of Health related needs to members of the community who struggle with substance use.
Elena’s research on health outcomes for incarcerated individuals with Opioid Use Disorder has informed program development aimed at reducing recidivism and overdose deaths. She is particularly passionate about empowering and supporting marginalized communities, working to eliminate poverty, and integrating harm reduction philosophy into all her work.
